This is an authenticated and certified page from a 1568 edition of the Geneva
Bible. The Geneva Bible is the first Bible to be completely translated
from the original languages (Hebrew in the Old Testament, and Greek in the New
Testament) into modern English and is the Bible that came over on the
Mayflower. It is often referred to as the Pilgrims' Bible. The
Geneva Bible is also the first Bible to have modern verse divisions. For
example, before the Geneva Bible, John 3:16 was just a sentence in the middle of
chapter 3. For more information about the Geneva Bible, see the link below
to the Geneva Bible History Sheet.
Each page is archivally float mounted under ultraviolet protected plexiglass
and features a brass nameplate displaying the Bible edition. Each page
comes with its own certificate of authenticity signed by Dr. David L. Brown,
Associate Curator of Ink & Blood, a Geneva Bible History Sheet which provides
information about the
history and significance of the Geneva Bible, and a photocopy of the back of the page that is not
visible in the framing. Framed dimensions are approximately 13" by
16".
